HOW TO COPE WITH FAILURE

When the semester ends and all students are awaiting their result, there is always what I call spirit of fear that comes upon the students, this usually have an after effect of an increase in the heartbeat of the student which in turn leads to stress , this I call the fear is of failing or of failure. [This does not only apply to students but to every single soul]” I am always scared of seeing my result because I am scared that I might have failed, even in the past when I had faith that I will pass it usually still leads to failure-James, aged 18. For many years in the past the question of how to “pass” has always been a serious issue in the skill acquisition sector of mans life.

Failure . nobody likes to hear it, but the fact remains that it remains part of our everyday life, whether in an educational system, training college, or getting disappointed by others, failure can be very disappointing/devastating. Of course all human make mistake, mistakes which they have to pay for one way or the other, yet some of us find it very difficult to recover from the fall. This is because may people see failure as a big step back. Giving some thought to ones failure not necessarily a bad thing- especially if doing so moves you to make improvement. However, prolonged and unrelenting self-criticism is harmful and anti-reproductive. Giving an example of student in college whom had been having carry over from the first year of entry to the final year, while in the final year he was told that if he does not work hard to recover his scores he will not graduate, but this did not bother him because he felt that he can never pass. this he had he mind until he spent close to nine years in college instead of four years. So this leads to the question ; how do we avoid the painful feeling of failure.

KNOW YOUR STAND: one of the most important way is knowing your stand, that is to set sensible, modest goals for your self. There is a wise word that says only the modest ones are wise ;and a modest person is aware of his or her stand . true, it’s good at times to challenge yourself so as to improve your skills and abilities in order to know his/her weak point. But be realistic and the same time, don’t torment yourself by making unfair compare with your other colleagues, as this may dampen your spirit and might also take time to recover from.

SERIOUS MISTAKES: as stated earlier on, we humans are imperfect and therefore always make mistake, now the question is what if we make a grievous offence what do we do? Many people today commit many atrocities so as to cover up their various mistake, atrocities such as giving of bribery, but all this only widens the mistake but they are other ways of correcting mistakes, many religions believe in praying to a supernatural being to forgive you and also directing their steps, and I tell you that this as worked for some. But the main point is to despise every negative thoughts and develop your self esteem, even reading books that could help like the bible, Koran or books written by other authors like think and grow rich by napoleon hill, how to make people like you in 90 seconds or less by Nicholas bothman, the art of seduction by Robert Greene, tackling failure by James oji, winning your battles with failure by Emmanuel olusegun.

HIGH EXPECTATION FROM OTHERS: sometimes, though, high expectation are imposed upon you- by parents, teachers and others. And you realize that, as much as you try to please them it is not successful. To make matters worst ,such ones may express their disappointment in words that irritate or perhaps even crush you. but then you realize that they are not purposely trying to hurt you it is sometimes a simple misunderstanding. You might even think that they are purposely trying to make you fail; so what is the best thing to do, the best thing to do is talk things out with them let them know how you feel about the situation at hand speaking with them in a respectful manner.

With all this one can be able to tackle failure as it is been presented; as it is said “failure does not mean you have failed but you have know how not to do it right” and finally read books that could help.
